Adventure riders, your next great journey awaits. The South East Backcountry Discovery Route (SEBDR), the 14th route in the BDR series, is now live, and the full-length expedition documentary is available to watch on YouTube. This thrilling new route takes riders from the Gulf of Mexico in Florida through the Appalachian Mountains of Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina, ending in Damascus, Virginia.
This release marks a major milestone in Triumph’s partnership with BDR, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving off-highway riding opportunities for adventure motorcyclists. As part of this collaboration, Triumph is supporting the development of new routes and helping expand access to the adventure riding community.
“BDR is proud to partner with Triumph Motorcycles America, one of the world’s most iconic and innovative motorcycle brands,” said Tim James, CEO of BDR. “With over 120 years of heritage, Triumph represents quality, style, and a passion for adventure.”
In the latest episode of the For The Ride podcast, host Adam VanderVeen sits down with Tim James to discuss the mission behind BDR, the making of the SEBDR, and how this partnership is helping shape the future of adventure riding.

Triumph Tigers Lead the Way
The SEBDR included five Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro motorcycles, including bikes ridden by the camera crew and photographers. These bikes proved their capability across challenging terrain, stretching from the deep sand in the Gulf, through gravel, wet leaves, and water crossings up and down winding mountain passes, all showcasing the Tiger’s off-road prowess and long-distance comfort.

Training to Tackle the Trail
Among the riders featured in the SEBDR experience was Dustin Wheelen, journalist for RevZilla’s Common Tread. Before joining the expedition, Dustin completed a training course at Jeff Stanton Adventures, a Triumph Accredited Adventure Center. The training helped him hone skills and confidence to take on the SEBDR’s technical challenges and fully embrace the spirit of adventure.
“The SEBDR was a true test of skill and endurance,” said Wheelen. “The experience I had with Triumph's Adventure Experience course really helped just because it instills the fundamentals that you need for riding off-road. Being able to jump right in and ride… it's really invaluable to get that extra training before you get out here.”
