TRIUMPH LAUNCHES MOTO2™ RACE GEARBOX FOR 2025 SEASON

Triumph Gearbox moto2
Racing Triumph Motorcycles 28th Feb 2025

Triumph introduces its biggest update since becoming the Exclusive Engine Supplier for Moto2™ in 2019—a full race gearbox for the 2025 season. The key change is a new gearshift pattern where neutral is now positioned at the top and locked out, preventing riders from shifting through neutral during races, ensuring seamless performance.

This redesign features a new selector drum with revised tracks, optimizing gear engagement. The billet-machined components provide ideal mass and inertia, while a mechanical neutral lockout allows riders to shift freely between 1st and 6th gear. Neutral can only be engaged manually, ensuring precision for pitlane and start-line use. The gearbox is housed in a newly developed crankcase designed specifically for the 2025 Moto2™ engine.

Carlos Ezpeleta, Chief Sporting Officer, Dorna Sports: “Triumph have been breaking records in Moto2 since they arrived, so for us it’s even more impressive that they continue to keep pushing to innovate. This new gearbox update speaks to their commitment to Moto2 and the opportunities the MotoGP paddock offers to provide a racing laboratory for partners to take their cutting edge technology to the racetrack. We’re sure the riders will be big fans of this update and that will translate into even better racing.”
